The department currently works in partnership with over one third of local authorities in England. Our flexible delivery model means we come to you to deliver education and CPD training designed to make a positive contribution to practice.

Post qualifying social work education is centred on a commitment, passion and dedication to develop professional practice. We believe that by improving the quality of social work practice we make a vital contribution to society in general and vulnerable people in particular.

Flexible and responsive training

We deliver flexible, responsive CPD training that is relevant to your needs and priorities. Our experience and commitment to excellence means our CPD programmes are designed to a very high standard, so that you can be sure you receive the best possible training, made relevant to your specific requirements. For added convenience, we’re also able to deliver our programmes on your premises or at a venue close by – whatever suits you best.

Accessible and achievable education

We’re social workers too, so we understand the challenges you face. That’s why we’ve designed our CPD programmes to deliver education in an accessible and achievable way. Flexibility is at the very heart of our delivery, so we provide extensive course materials, as well as flexible support to help students complete assessments on time.

Expertise

We’re not just here for the short term. Since the year 2000, over 10,000 students have successfully undertaken our courses at the national centre, and we enjoy developing long-term relationship with employers. This means we can understand their requirements and develop courses that will help them progress, both as organisations and as individual practitioners.

We have a national reputation for delivering quality education, thanks to an experienced team with a health and social care background, management experience, and an established track record in learning and development. That combination of educational expertise and consultation with employers means we are ideally placed to customise and design leadership and management CPD programmes that not only meet your strategic objectives, but take local realities into consideration too.

Here at Bournemouth University’s National Centre for Post Qualifying Social Work we pride ourselves on facilitating flexible partnerships with employers and practitioners to provide CPD opportunities for professionals working with children and families .

Our units and programmes have been designed to meet contemporary professional standards including the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) and the HCPC standards of Proficiency.

As a team we are proud of our reputation and achievements. Our aim, like yours, is to ensure that the quality of social work practice in the UK is of the highest possible standard. In order to achieve this, we work tirelessly to ensure that our programmes are relevant and current, reflecting the latest research findings, contemporary professional, legal and policy developments and societal, cultural and political contexts for practice.
